So - I've booked a house...

It says it sleeps up to 8 but as I assume we all want separate beds it actually sleeps 6. So far, we have me moth2fic, plus margaret_r and zellieh for four nights - arriving Thurs 25th and leaving Monday 29th. Then we have thesmallhobbit for Friday and Saturday night, and moonlightmead for all or part of the time. That leaves one bed untaken so if anyone else wants to join in let me know.

So far as I can see from the info it's within walking distance of the main station. There's parking, and I will have my car, and for short distances all five of us could squeeze in.

I will be contacting them for address and postcode so that we can actually find it as the map is not wildly helpful. You will see, if you click on availability, that 'our' weekend is booked - by us, in fact. The landlady tells me the TripAdvisor website will not allow her to give the address and postcode until after the full amount is paid. However, she says it is off The Vale.

Costs: Complex arithmetic has been taking place and somebody will need to check at some point!! The full cost is £450.50 which includes a booking fee of £25. Including a booking fee, this means they're charging £112.63 per night - so not exactly as shown in the price table but pretty near. That, of course, is between three of us on some nights and five on others... At the moment I'm assuming 3 people want four nights and 2 people want 2 though I know moonlightmead might want more than two so that will alter the calculations. It should work out pretty reasonable and includes all linen, towels, electricity, etc. I will make exact calculations when we have exact information!

I can pay everything in advance including the refundable damage deposit so nobody needs to pay me anything till we get there. I'm using a credit card and the deposit is not as much as my share of the total will be. Then the final payment will be paid off before any interest becomes due. And we can sort out a supermarket run for breakfasts etc. nearer the time. By the look of things we could even host part of the weekend in the lounge!

It looks quite nice and I hope I've done the right thing/chosen the right place. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find places - all the hype about how many people a place sleeps is based on people sharing double beds... And landlords don't update their availability calendars. And, and, and... So once I knew this was available I grabbed it.

So - if anyone else wants to join us, first come first served. Or if anyone arrives last minute there could be accommodation with us. And I'll update you all by email or PM nearer the time.
